The meadows have many old plant varieties, which is home to many
different animals or the Wild Stock We have about 38 acres of land mainly down to pasture and 5 acres of
woodland. The fields are full of old grass varieties because no one has
sprayed Herbicide on them for years, so we have a much higher percentage of
wild herbs which the sheep love. This makes wonderful Hay. Underdown Moor is
not an "Organic" farm but it is a low input farm. Low Herbicide, NO
chemical fertilizer and therefore a low carbon farm. We are trying to preserve the Culm grassland using gentle
"land management" with help from Devon Wildlife Trust. |
